| MPs' Office-Running
Costs Alowance
MPs receive up to £21,339 to fund their offices locally. Telephone, photocopying and utility costs in Westminster are not charged. Some MPs base their office entirely in Westminster, especially London MPs. For security reasons related to Dan Norris's former Northern Ireland and Foreign Office responsibilities, and because of attempted assaults on Dan and actual assaults on his staff by pro-hunt fanatics, his constituency office is not public. Again for security reasons, mail to Dan Norris MP should be sent to The House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA where it is screened. Despite security considerations, Dan Norris nonetheless has frequent and regular contact with his constituents. For example he holds twice-weekly face-to-face MP surgeries, regular 'coffee morning'-style events, street stalls and other public events and, where needed, home visits to constituents. These allow more convenient access to Dan Norris for all those he represents - wherever they happen to live or work in the large semi-rural Wansdyke seat which measures approximately 18 miles from east to west, and some 13 miles from north to south. Normally Dan Norris uses almost the full allocation of these allowances. You can find out more here . |
