More effective ways to support North East Somersets carers
Last month saw an announcement that our district is one of 25 to receive new Government funding for projects to pilot more effective ways of supporting carers.
£600,000 will be used locally to help carers get a vital break from their duties. The projects will be assessed with a view to sharing best practice nationwide.
As the thousands of local people who perform this very special role know, caring for somebody is a world away from a nine-to-five job. Theres often a major impact on carers own health, as I know personally. Other pilot schemes will very helpfully provide carers with easier and more convenient access to health check-ups - in places that better suit their own location and schedule.
This Government funding is most welcome and proper recognition of North East Somersets very special carers.
