Labours Dan Norris has published five detailed LOCAL promises for action he will keep should he win the extremely close Labour-Tory contest in ultra-marginal North East Somerset.
And he is inviting each and every household in the key marginal seat to tell him the one thing they want to add to his list of five priorities, with the one idea that gets most suggestions becoming his sixth pledge.
I am already finding that these pledges for North East Somerset are going down very well on the doorstep, said Dan. It is important to remind people of the hard work and significant successes achieved in recent years. But voters rightly want to know what you plan to do next if elected.
They hear national politicians on the TV and radio, but the close two-horse race between me and Tory Mr Rees Mogg here in North East Somerset will be won and lost by local people deciding on each of the candidates LOCAL track records - and each of the candidates LOCAL plans for the future.
I started off my campaign with a statement: If you want to know whether someone will keep their promises, look back at what they promised before and what they achieved since. Thats why one of the first things I did during the election campaign was publish and deliver a leaflet summarising just some of the things Ive done as local MP in recent years.
It showed just some of my successes, such as securing funding for new school buildings, health facilities and childrens centres, more heating allowances to keep people warm in the winter, as well as battling Tory-run B&NES Council to ensure North East Somerset communities get their fair share.
Now I am making new promises to my fellow North East Somerset residents: promises that I will work tirelessly to achieve if elected; promises that will make our communities better places to live and work.
In his newly published election leaflet Dan publishes his promises in an unusual format.
Because I take these promises so seriously, I have presented them in the form of a certificate, he said.
People can keep it and if Im elected on 6 May can then use it to hold me to account at the next election after this one.
Dans promises can be found in more detail in his new election leaflets. The pledges are also available online here
