Safer road crossing for people living in Westfield, Radstock

People living in Westfield, Radstock, have been telling me how pleased they are that a new Zebra crossing is to be installed on the Wells Road.

Local residents, including many children and young people, take their lives in their hands when they try to get across this fast and busy road near to junctions of roads including Maple Drive, West Hill Road and Cedar Terrace.

I took up their concerns with B&NES, and more than 200 residents supported my calls for the Council to make it a priority to provide a new safe crossing place.

Dan Norris MP at the site of the new zebra crossing, which is to be installed following his lobbying on residents' behalfSo it was good to be report to them that, following my lobbying, B&NES Council has now made a commitment to build a new Zebra close to the junction with Maple Drive early in the new financial year. That means many hundreds of local people could be much, much safer next Spring when they need to cross.

Of course it will be important to ensure B&NES keeps its commitment. Local voices will continue to play a key role so I continue to welcome comments from residents about road safety in Westfield – or any other part of North East Somerset - over the coming weeks and months.
